Ornithologist Debunks
Claim That Birds Have Ears
Published April 15, 2024
The Prairie Folly, an endangered species, is unique. It is the only bird in the world with ears.
“Birds don’t have ears,” Professor Von Finch told this reporter. Von Finch is an ornithologist at Nebraska Tech and an expert in all things avian. He knows all the Latin names for all the birds, which is quite impressive. Vincit Omnia Veritas!
Alison, at the Red Path Gallery, has it on good authority that the Prairie Folly has ears. “Good authority!” she repeated.
“Birds don’t have ears,” Professor Von Finch told this reporter again. Quite firmly. “They can hear, but they don’t have actual ears.”
Carla, owner of Chapters Books & Gifts, has seen the bird herself, in person, and quite close up. Carla has excellent vision. She is known for her keen eyesight, perhaps the best in Seward. “The folly has ears!” she said. “I saw the ears!"
“Birds don’t have ears,” Professor Von Finch told this reporter. Over and over.
Come to The Great Folly Hunt and see for yourself if the bird has ears or not.
“It doesn’t,” Von Finch muttered.
