Hatfields And McCoys Clash Over Prairie Folly

Published March 12, 2024

The Hatfields say there is no Prairie Folly. It doesn’t exist.

The McCoys disagree. Vehemently. “If the folly doesn’t exist,” the McCoys yell at the Hatfields, “then why is Seward, Nebraska, hosting The Great Folly Hunt?!?”

The Hatfields call the McCoys idiots and shout, “The Prairie Folly is a mythical bird! The town of Seward just made it up!”

The McCoys shake their fists at the Hatfields and reply, “There are seven Prairie Follys hiding in and around Seward County! Seven! If the bird was made up, there would be zero Follys

hidden, but there are seven!”

The Hatfields all shut their eyes in disbelief. “The Great Folly Hunt,” they say sadly.

“The whole deal sounds like a bunch of nonsense.”

“Folly Hunting Season opens June 1st in Seward, Nebraska,” The McCoys gloat. “It’s real! Because you can’t have a Hunting Season without something to hunt! So there!”

The Hatfields give the McCoys the raspberry.

Who knows how long this bitter rivalry will continue?

Folly Hunting Season Opens June 1, 2024, and runs through Labor Day.
